Radar Summer Schools - Aeronomy
During July, 2017, we hosted two summer schools: the ISR and the HF summer schools. The ISR summer school is organized by Dr. Elizabeth Kendall from SRI. This year Arecibo was the hosted institution with more than 30 students and 7 mentors. The HF summer school, organized by Dr. Eliana Nossa, had 9 students and was partially founded by the ISR summer school and the Arecibo Observatory. Here is one of the HF summer school participants interacting with our engineer Felix Fernandez.

User’s equipment ready to be deployed
New equipment from University of Florida at Gainesville, Georgia Tech and University of Colorado at Denver was deployed at AO. This is part of a new project to study ELF and VLF waves in the D-region in conjunction with our sensitive ISR system. The new equipment and the ISR system will measure the D-region when this layer is modified by HF waves lunched from ground.
